For expansion or repair of existing reefs which already have a range of organisms and fish present,
un-colonized*** Eco-Coral™ units may be used. The normal deployment is 2,000 units per hectare
of coverage. The units are best installed using a
Mini Reef Layer (click for specification), which can also be used as a dive platform.
One 40ft. container holds 385 units which will cover approximately 2,000 square meters
(21,400 square feet). The Mini Reef Layer fits a 20ft. flat rack container.
The total delivered cost for 21,400 square feet of reef and one Mini Reef Layer with brand new Tohatsu
18hp 4-stroke outboard motor is $US 41,730. This means you get a new coral reef
(plus a self propelled diving platform) at a cost of only $1.95 per square foot of reef!!
