| Eco-Coral© – Re-establishing coral reefs. Eco-coral© is unique among artificial corals in that it can be used to establish real corals where the existing corals have all been destroyed. This is due to the unique structure and composition of the units which provides an ideal surface for coral eggs to attach and by virtue of it’s PH which is the same as sea water it offers a completely compatible host site for marine life. By deploying Eco-Coral© into existing healthy reefs, before spawning, they will acquire coral colonization. After a period of two years they may be recovered and transported in tanks, utilizing the water from the host area, and then re-deployed at the establishment site, with acclimatization if conditions warrant. Essentially large populations of Eco-Coral© units can be maintained within reefs such as Tubbatha as a nursery for the re-establishment of the damaged and destroyed reef systems. The overall cost of installing the nursery is relatively low and the value extremely high, since an instant reef is produced with ample sanctuary for fish. To bring fish back a highway of Fish Aggregation Devices may be installed to lead fish back from distant resources. Anti-Trawling devices and the local communities would protect the new reef system. |
